Police appeal for information after suspected arson damages Oldham homes

POLICE ARE investigating a suspected arson in Oldham.

At around 12pm on Thursday 21 January 2016, unknown offenders went into a temporarily vacant property on Belmont Street in Oldham and started a fire.GMP logo

The fire spread to the houses next door causing extensive damage. Firefighters spent hours tackling the blaze but nobody was injured.

A joint investigation between the police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the fire.

Detective Constable Mike Patterson said: “We are treating this fire as arson and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly how the fire started and who may have been involved.

“We are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed anyone behaving suspiciously around the property to contact police.”
