The police chief will officially take on her new position in the GMP on Monday, March 3 after serving as Divisional Commander at Oldham Police Station for the last four years.

Superintendent Denise Worth will remain at Oldham while Chief Superintendent Caroline Ball, who has worked in the borough previously, will oversee the Oldham and Tameside divisions.

Chief Supt Hankinson said in an email announcing the change: “I am excited about the move, which will bring new challenges, but also sad to leave Oldham.

“Having been here for four years – the longest time I have ever spent anywhere in GMP – I feel like I have got to know people well and with that comes trust and respect.

“I very much appreciate all of the support given to me personally.”
