SHOPPERS TUCKED into birthday cake and bagged a bargain as a children’s car boot and swap shop celebrated its second anniversary with a party at its November event.

The Kids Car Boot monthly sales allow both parents and children to get involved selling kids-only products to clear out their unwanted items and make space – as well as cash – for new ones.
There are also ‘swap shops’ where youngsters can exchange their unwanted toys with each other, and refreshments are on sale at the event’s cafe.
And this month they celebrated their second birthday in style with a bumper event and delicious cake home-made by Kerri Roberts, who runs the events with business partner Steve Winfield.
Kerri said: “We are delighted to have reached our second birthday and we are going from strength to strength.”

“We have around 30 stallholders each month and more and more families coming along to buy things. We are so grateful for the support of the community to help our events flourish.”
Stall proceeds and any leftover items are donated to Barnardo’s, a move which has so far raised more than £42,600 from similar events across the country.
Kids Car Boot and Swap Shop events are held on the first Sunday of every month at Saddleworth School in Uppermill from 10am until 12midday.
Their next events will be on December 7 and February 1. Entry is 50p for adults, free for kids, with refreshments available and free parking.
