A TOP travel agent from Saddleworth has been named as one of the best in the country at the industry’s Agent Achievement Awards in London.
Around 850 people attended the glittering ceremony, hosted by TV presenter Stephen Mulhern, at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
Among the winners was Designer Travel’s Angela Mayall – who writes a monthly column for the Saddleworth Independent – who was named ‘Aspire Homeworker of the Year Award’.
Delighted Angela said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won the award. Thrilled is an understatement as this national award honours the best travel agents in the UK.
“It’s so lovely to get recognition for doing a job that I love and I want to say a huge thank you to all my lovely customers for all your support.”
The glowing recommendation of Angela submitted to judges read: “Angela was crystal clear about the type of business she wanted to cultivate and she set off in the pursuit of growing a network of luxury and high end customers who valued time as much (if not more) as money.
“Our travel world has changed immensely but Angela has taken time to ensure she adds value to every booking she makes on a customer’s behalf.
“By staying one step ahead and pre-empting her customers’ needs, Angela has grown her business to a point where in 2016 she was the highest achieving Business Associate in terms of retail sales – an astounding result for an individual homeworker.
“Angela deals with customers from all over the United Kingdom and with a number of customers also based overseas.
“Angela also offers her customers a full-blown concierge service, as she will organise everything from bespoke flowers in the customer’s room to special meal requirements, tickets to special events and festivals to dinner reservations.
“Over the years Angela has developed some exceptional relationships with a number of tour operators. She demonstrates the same loyalty to those suppliers who provide great products and services as the loyalty demonstrated by her customers.”
