QUIRKY AND quaint has been the key to success for a unique Uppermill shop as they celebrate their second birthday this month.
Authentic opened its doors in November 2014 and now, run by Viki Taylor and Helen Robinson, is a treasure trove of handmade goods from talented local crafters.
The shelves are full to bursting with all kinds of products from photographs, soft furnishings, clothes, Yorkshire themed items and jewellery to candles, chocolates and soaps.
Viki has a display of items from her wooden curios company Woozlewood while Helen sells delightful soaps under the name Ma’s Bars.
And as they invite all to join them to celebrate the shop’s anniversary over the weekend of November 5/6 with cake and drinks, the pair are delighted with their progress.
“It doesn’t seem like two minutes ago since we opened but it’s going so well,” said Helen.
“We’ve got 32 traders now selling their items in here and we love working with and supporting local businesses to offer something a little bit different and quirky.
“We are always trying to squeeze in another few traders as we keep having to turn them away, so now we’ve got a waiting list.
“We’ve also got some spaces for emerging artists including felting and glasses and it’s great to be able to support them.”
Viki added: “Authentic is your one-stop shop for all your gift shopping and will also ensure you will be buying local and supporting local businesses.
“We want to say thank you to all our customers as well as our families who have given us fantastic support.”
