Rail tragedy at Greenfield Station

A PERSON died after being struck by a train at Greenfield Railway Station on Tuesday September 4. 

A spokesman for British Transport Police said:

“Shortly before 2pm today, officers were called to the line close to Greenfield station following a report of a person being struck by a train.

“Officers are currently on scene alongside paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service and colleagues from Greater Manchester Police. However, a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
