Railway pub to host music event to help motorcycle fundraiser ahead of 1,500mile bike ride

The Railway pub, Greenfield, is staging a gig on Saturday, June 30 to raise funds for Alan Coates, 69, who next week starts a 1,500-mile solo motor bike ride to Switzerland. He is hoping to collect £20,000 for four charities.

Six bands are giving their time free of charge and it gets under way at 2pm. Admission is free, but a collection will be made.

Then the British Motorcycle Preservation Society, Manchester branch is holding an afternoon tea at The Sycamore, Ashton, on Saturday, July 14, sittings 11.30am and 4pm with the cost £10 or £12 with a glass of Bucks Fizz.

Alan, from Hey Farm, leaves on Wednesday, July 4 and will be on the road for 10 days.
