Read all about us… April

FRESH FROM its third birthday last month, your multi-award-winning Saddleworth Independent is still the first choice with a growing band of loyal readers across Saddleworth’s villages.

And the paper’s new editor Aimee Howarth, pictured here with boyfriend Alan Belmore, was on hand to deliver the free copies herself for eager readers to snap up from more than 100 outlets, including post offices, shops, restaurants, pubs, libraries and Greenfield railway station too. P2 - Taking it on - Aimee and Alan

Aimee, 22, from Grasscroft, has worked as a journalist on for the paper for several years and takes over from its founder Ken Bennett, a former senior Fleet Street news and features executive with more than 55 years’ media experience.

Ken, who is developing other community media strands, remains as the Independent’s Associate Editor and continues to write for the paper, which, under his direction, has claimed three major accolades in the O2 North West Media Awards.

(blob) And if you have family and friends across the globe who want to keep in touch with the most up to date happenings in Saddleworth, The Independent has launched a fresh, brand new website, which you can visit at: www.saddind.co.uk.

Happy reading –remember we are not an ad-mag directory but the community’s only real NEWSpaper offering the very best coverage of all local events.
