Research shows yoga can help to relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety, improve body strength and flexibility, create balance and a peaceful state of mind.
“As part of our Body Mind & Well-being (BMW) project recently launched at the Satellite, Yoga is a supportive and enriching activity that sustains and improves people’s health, potentially saving the NHS a bob or two,” says trustee Chair, Mike Rooke.
Yoga focuses on strength, flexibility, correct breathing and relaxation to boost physical and mental well-being.
“If you do have any specific health issues it is always advisable to check with your GP before starting any new physical activity,” advised Debbie.
Debbie first became interested in yoga as a means of bringing peace and calmness into her busy life.
“Through posture work, breathing exercises and relaxation I found real balance and inner peace in my body and mind,” she said.
“In over 20 years of practising yoga, I have seen huge benefits in my muscle strength, flexibility and most importantly a calmer, quieter mind.”
After completing a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course, Debbie qualified as a Hatha Yoga Teacher in 2016.
In 2017, she decided to follow her dream and left her corporate job in Social Housing to concentrate on teaching yoga and share her skills with others.
