LOCAL RESIDENTS are invited to take part in research being conducted by Public Health to shape their approach to getting people more involved in physical activity.
Oldham Council wants to explore the views of residents about barriers to physical activity and how they can contribute to more active lifestyles.
A number of workshop discussions will be held to explore the views and experiences – and there’s a £15 shopping voucher on offer for each participant.
The sessions will be held on:
- Wednesday, February 10 at 6pm-7.30pm (arrive for 5.30pm), Lees Suite, Oldham Civic Centre – general session
- Thursday, February 11 at 1-3pm, Crompton Suite, Oldham Civic Centre – session specifically for low income / unemployed people
The sessions will broadly cover views on barriers to physical activity and how these could be overcome, as well as the role of communities/individuals.
Residents will also be asked about views on existing messages being used to promote physical activity and how these should be delivered.
The information provided will help inform the council how it can better support residents to lead more active lifestyles and develop more appropriate messages to promote physical activity.
The sessions will include some interactive activities and group discussions. All information discussed will remain confidential, and any direct quotes will not be traceable back to you.
