They said: “Road works will commence on the above road on Wednesday, August 19, completing on Sunday, August 30.

“With your co-operation in ensuring the road is clear at all times, we will be able to complete the surfacing works on time.”

The road works are:

Phase 1: Chapel Road to Wellington Road.

  • Sunday, August 23 – 8am to 10am and 4:30pm to 7pm. During these hours a full road closure and diversion will be in place.
  • Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28 – 8am to 5pm under temporary traffic signals. Access to Tesco Superstore will remain during all opening hours.
  • Sunday, August 30 – 4.30pm to 7pm. During these hours a full road closure and diversion will be in place.

Phase 2: Wellington Road to Kinders Crescent & Phase 3: Kinders Crescent to Berry Brow

  • Wednesday, August 19 to Thursday, August 27 – Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm each day. During working hours a full road closure and diversion will be in place.

The letter adds: “Please note that only one phase will be closed at any one time.

“However in an effort to reduce the delivery time, and as such reduce disruption to local residents and businesses, we will swap phasing over within the same day.

“At no time must anybody walk across the carriageway whilst the works are in progress.

We ask that all residents take extra care and make themselves aware of all signs, cones and barriers.

“Would parents please ensure that children are kept clear of the site and machinery during the works and I would advise all residents to check the soles of shoes for Bitumen or loose chippings before entering one’s house.

“Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times and vehicular access will be possible outside the hours of work.”
