IMPROVEMENT WORKS have been carried out on a junction at Grains Bar to make the area safer.

Bend warning signs and enhanced hazard markings and red surfacing have also been installed.

Over the last few years a number of crashes have occurred in the area around Ripponden Road due to excessive speed or drivers failing to respond to changes in the highway.

Councillor Dave Hibbert, Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Transport, said: “In the last five years there haven’t been any reported accidents involving injuries at this location but we know a number of crashes have resulted in damage to nearby properties.

“However, I would like to remind motorists that not all accidents can be addressed by these measures – speeding and people not concentrating have been identified as the causes in a number of recent crashes.

“Please drive responsibly and keep within the speed limit when on our roads.”
