THE RETIRING President of a legendary Rotary Club has been praised for his hard work and dedication.
For two years, Richard Bartlett has spearheaded a plan of changes at the Rotary Club of Saddleworth to make it ready for the future.
He launched an Engage, Develop and Succeed project backing young hopefuls, hosted charity cycle rides, a Dragons Den event and more.
The club’s new president, Stan Bowes from Diggle, said Mr Bartlett’s presidency, heralded the need for change.
“Richard started the change and this must continue,” said Mr Bowes.
“The most fundamental duty of a president is to leave the club stronger than when he took it over. Richard has certainly succeeded in that.
“From discussions already held, I think we can look forward to an exciting year, with further changes to the way we operate.”
Tony Burke and Barbara Howse were appointed Vice and Second Vice with Doug Greenwood as secretary and David Howse as treasurer.
The club have set up a Continuity Council and other officers appointed were: Tony Burke, club service; Clint Elliot, membership; Rob Knotts, Foundation and vocation; Mike Hall, international and youth matters and Jon Stocker, communities.
Mr Bowes thanked Alan Chorlton and Doug Greenwood for their additional efforts as proxy Vice Presidents.
