Roughyeds looking to adopt a club song

OLDHAM Rugby League Club is keen to enhance the match-day experience at Bower Fold in the coming season by adopting a club song.

It will be the ‘new’ club’s 20th-anniversary season and no better time for the launch of a popular tune, ideally with amended Roughyeds-related lyrics, which will become a fans’ favourite and synonymous with Oldham RLFC.

Dave Naylor, last season’s Supporters Direct Community Champion and a member of the Roughyeds’ media team, said: “Our dedicated band of supporters, always vocal home and away, are our 18th man, and the players are the first to vouch for that. They think our fans are terrific.

“To build on their ‘loud and proud’ approach we want them to submit suggestions for a Roughyeds song that will add to the match-day atmosphere.

“It wants to be uplifting, suitable for all age groups and a song that will put a smile on everyone’s face.

“We can generate a great atmosphere at Bower Fold and with a club song we can really get the place rocking.”

Fans have until January 20 to submit suggestions and ideas by filling in a form on the club website:

A short list will be drawn up and fans will then be asked to vote in time for the most popular entry to be ready to go for the first KP Championship home game against Sheffield Eagles on Sunday, February 5.
