Saddleworth Children’s Book Club to breathe fire with Dragons Tales party

SADDLEWORTH’Saddleworth children's book groupS Children’s Book Group will be breathing fire at its next event – a Dragon Tales party.

Members of the group will be celebrating National Share-a-Story Month at the end on Saturday, June 27 at Sandy Lane Community Church, Dobcross, from 2-3.30pm.

There will be a dragon lair, complete with dragon eggs, where a storyteller will be telling dragon-y tales.

Children will also be learning how to write in Dragon runes, designing dragons for a SCBG Big Book of Dragons, taking part in a Viking dragon quiz and sharing their favourite dragon books.

Families at the event will also be able to feast at a Dragon cafe – complete with Helmet cupcakes, Dragon popcorn, Battle axes, Dragon scales and Dragon’s Nest Cake for sale.

Dragon Tales is the group’s 10th event since its launch last year. It now has nearly 80 members from all over Saddleworth, who’ve enjoyed events including a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed party, Harry Potter night and a session exploring children’s lives during the First World War.

It is linked to the Federation of Children’s Book Groups (FCBG), a national registered charity established in the 1960s.

Admission to the Dragon Tales event is £2 for members and £3.50 for non-members – children must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Find out more about the group on their Facebook page.
