Saddleworth dad launches egg-cellent easter campaign for children at The Christie

A SADDLEWORTH dad has come up with an ‘egg-cellent’ charity idea to help poorly children enjoy Easter this year…

12832445_1518812038426316_1007916011737104211_nMichael Thornley’s mission is to encourage locals to donate Easter eggs and colouring books which he will then take to children under the care of The Christie hospital.

The kind-hearted dad explained: “I just thought it would be nice to do something for the kids with cancer.

“I’ve lost three young friends to this disease, both of whom went to The Christie, and my uncle was looked after at home in Diggle by Macmillan until he passed. So it’s a cause close to my heart.

“I’m not hoping for miracles but anything that might bring a smile to the kids’ faces would be great.

“Some of them might be nil-by-mouth so even colouring books and pencils as some people have suggested would be great rather than eggs for them.”

Donations can be dropped off at Diggle Chippy, Authentic in Uppermill, the Royal George pub in Greenfield, Tesco greenfield, Terra Nino deli in Greenfield or The Three Crowns pub at Scouthead by Good Friday, March 25, who are kindly supporting Michael’s campaign.
