Saddleworth Independent celebrates anniversary by launching second title

SIX YEARS ago Saddleworth gained its very own newspaper when respected journalist Ken Bennett decided to give a voice to the villages.

Over the years, the award-winning publication has delivered news and views from across the area, chronicling the successes of locals as well as fighting their corner.

It has become a popular source of news about the community, lifestyle, entertainment and sport and also a key advertising tool for local businesses and groups.

Aimee explained: “Saddleworth has its own newspaper which is much-loved by locals, and the praise we get from readers and advertisers is fantastic.

“Mossley doesn’t have its own newspaper and so we have decided to start one and give the community a voice, just like we have done in Saddleworth.”

Reporter Trevor Baxter will be Editor on the Mossley Correspondent alongside Tony Bugby as Sports Editor and Aimee Howarth as Editor in Chief, supported by sales representatives Iain Blackwood and Paul Guilfoyle and contributing columnists and reporters.

The Mossley Correspondent will be published on the second Friday of each month, with the first publication out on April 8, and will be available to pick up around the community.
