Saddleworth Rangers lost their Oldham Standard Cup semi-final against Rochdale Mayfield, the team they defeated in last year’s final.
Mayfield, who play two divisions higher, ran out 24-18 winners, scoring the decisive points in the final five minutes after the scores were level at 18-18.
Rangers were 18-4 down but three tries in 10 minutes, led by two from new-signing Jake Shoel, levelled the scores.
But Mayfield got their revenge for last year’s final defeat with their late show. Mayfield will face Oldham St Anne’s in the final on Good Friday after they narrowly beat Waterhead Warriors.
