SADDLEWORTH Rangers’ club photographer Jackie Clowes confessed to being lost for words after being chosen as the Oldham Amateur Rugby League’s unsung hero for 2017.

It came as a shock to Jackie when the presentation was made by league secretary and BARLA board member Phil Bradbury before the home match against Thornhill.
Jackie, who has been involved with the club for 20 years, said she was “surprised and honoured” to get the award in appreciation of her tireless efforts to photograph the exploits of rugby league players in the town.
She can be found on the touchline of Rangers’ open age and junior matches most weekends. She even took part in the 30 hour touch rugby record at Shaw Hall Bank Road two years ago and took photos through the night.
For the last eight years, Jackie has also taken photos at the final of the Standard Challenge Cup and annual youth and junior cup finals.
“The award is well deserved. Jackie is an important member of our club and everyone realises how lucky we are to have her,” said a club spokesman.
