Saddleworth Stables opens doors for family fun on the farm on bank holidays

FROM PONIES and lambs to ducks and hens, animals of all shapes and sizes were being petted, cuddled and fed during open days at Saddleworth Stables.

Sun shone down on families at the events on Good Friday and Easter Monday – and the days went so well that two more have been planned for the May bank holidays.

Saddleworth Stables, in Diggle, threw open its doors to welcome in all ages to see their pets, including dicks, chicks, guinea pigs, hens and lambs.

Youngsters could also enjoy rides on the ponies, then tuck into refreshments afterward.

Carol Shaw runs the Riding School and Livery Yard and was helped out on the day by brother Nigel, who runs Diggle House Farm holiday lets nearby.

Nigel said: “Both days were really well attended and we had some really good feedback – people loved it. Good Friday was a really sunny day too, which helped!”

More Open Days will be held on Bank Holiday Mondays May 2 and May 30 from 10am to 2pm. Entry £2.50 to see the animals, and £5 for pony rides.
