SADDLEWORTH SHONE with festive cheer as homes and businesses brightened their windows for Christmas with lights and decorations.
The brightest of them all were picked out as winners for the annual Saddleworth Illuminations competition, run by the Parish Council.
Chairman of the Parish Council Cllr Neil Allsopp, OMBC and Saddleworth Parish Cllr Nikki Kirkham and the Clerk to Saddleworth Parish Council, Pam Bailey toured the villages to judge the displays.
Cllr Allsopp said: “Every year homes and businesses throughout Saddleworth put on a great display at Christmas.
“This year’s were a knockout. Not only were they bright and cheery but you could see a great deal of thought had gone into them.
“There were the very bright, the more traditional, the quite modern, the very stylish and the downright quirky! All were attractive in their own way and we had a heck of a job awarding prizes.
“Thank you to everyone in Saddleworth who illuminates and decorates their businesses and homes for the rest of us to enjoy.
“During winter evenings when it is cold and dark, they add a bit of cheer and make the villages sparkle and I would love to see it continue for many years to come.”
