JOIN COMMUNITIES across Saddleworth for festive fun as they illuminate the villages with their Christmas tree lights.
On Friday, December 2 Springhead start the switch-ons with their event at the junction of Ashbrook Road and Oldham Road at 6pm.
Also on Friday, December 2 Greenfield will their light up their tree at the bridleway on Chew Valley Road at 7pm, with carols from local primary schools.
On Saturday, December 3 the Uppermill Lights switch-on will be from 3.30pm-4.30pm at the Museum and The Square, following the Santa Dash.
On the same day in Lees, locals will gather to light up the tree across from Legends Pub at the junction of St Johns Street and High Street at 4.30pm.
In Delph, the lights on trees outside The Swan, at King Street and Millgate Car Park will be turned on in an event organised by Wake Up Delph, on Saturday, December 3 at 5.30pm.
Dobcross will gather in The Square on Saturday, December 3 at 6pm to turn on their lights, with entertainment from Brass Monkeys as well. Followed at 7.30pm by the DVC’s Christmas Quiz in the band club.
In Diggle, the annual Christmas Service and lights switch on will be held at the tree opposite Warth Mill on Sunday, December 4 at 4pm.
‘Light Up Denshaw’ invites residents to gather on Sunday, December 4 with festivities from 5pm and then switch on at 6pm outside Oddfellows.
Grotton will switch on the lights of their tree at the junction of Oldham Road and Grotton Hollow on Sunday, December 4. Carols will be sung from 6pm followed by the switch-on at 6.30pm.
In Lydgate the lights will be switched on on Thursday, December 8 at 6.15pm, at the crossroads of Oldham Road and Platting Road.
Finally, the annual Horseman’s Carol Service at Friezland Equestrian Arena, off Huddersfield Road in Greenfield, will be held on Saturday, December 10.
The gathering is from 11am for an 11.15am start, with all riders and animal lovers invited along with their pets.
