Saddleworth wedding business to move from Scouthead base

The Aisle Edit will move from the former St Paul’s church in Scouthead

A SADDLEWORTH wedding business is to move after outgrowing its current location.

The Aisle Edit, based in what was once St Paul’s Church on Huddersfield Road in Scouthead, is leaving at the end of January.

Owner Charlotte Mills will move to new, larger premises after the doors close on January 31.

And she admits the call took plenty of thinking.

She said: “This decision comes as Charlotte Mills Ltd continues to grow and requires additional space to support its exciting development.

“At the same time, the needs of The Aisle Edit have evolved significantly since we first opened our doors and we’re ready to embark on the next chapter of our journey.

“This hasn’t been an easy decision, as we are so incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved in our beautiful, historic location.

“From welcoming over 2,000 brides to creating a hub for independent bridal businesses, our time here has been truly special.

“To all the brides who have walked through our doors, thank you for letting us be part of your journey.

“It has been an absolute privilege to share in your joy, excitement, and love stories. Your trust and support have meant the world to us, and we will cherish the memories of helping you create such special moments forever.

“While this marks the end of an era at this location, it’s the beginning of an exciting future for both Charlotte Mills and The Aisle Edit.”

When The Aisle Edit opened in its current home, which is on the market for offers in the region of £1 million, Charlotte described the church as a ‘forever home.’

She said: “We were trying to buy something but everything was industrial units and it just didn’t feel right. I drive past this every day because I live in Scouthead.

“We were driving past every day and walking past it during lockdown – it had been up for sale for ages. So I spoke to the bank and my accountant and they said, ‘You could probably get a mortgage, just about – just try it.’

“I came and had a look and fell in love with it. We thought, ‘We’d get it and it would be office space. We’d be based here.’ Then things quickly changed because all the tenants moved out, before we’d even completed!

“We were on a train journey to Edinburgh in October and said, ‘Costs are piling up, we need to do something.’ This was a long-term plan but we decided to just go for it and do it.”
