Saddleworth WI hold comedy fundraiser

A LAUGHTER-FILLED evening with Off the Rails Comedy will help raise funds for the Saddleworth Women’s Institute’s chosen charity.

Proceeds from the event at the Royal George in Greenfield on Saturday, June 21 will go to Oldham Bereavement Support Service, who the group is supporting throughout 2014.Sadd WI

Entertainment for the night will include rising star Paul McCaffrey, Irish comedian and actor Paddy Lenox and new comedy award winner Kiri Pritchard-McLean, with Rob Riley as compere.

Tickets for the fundraising comedy night cost £10 in advance and are available online at www.saddleworthcomedy.co.uk or contact 07866 541560. Doors open at 8pm to start at 8.30pm. Over 18s only.

Meanwhile, the Saddleworth WI will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, May 7 when the guest speaker will be Tom Redmond, a horn player with the Halle Orchestra for ten years.

He has performed across the globe and also works as a presenter for BBC Radio 3 and will be regaling the group with tales as well as playing music.

Saddleworth WI meets on the Wednesday of each month at the Saddleworth Hotel at 7.30pm. New members and guests are always welcome. The annual subscription fee of £34.70 is now due. The group asks for a voluntary donation of 50p from members and £2 from non-members per meeting towards running costs and refreshments.
