GIRL power is coming to Delph as the theme for its popular Donkey Scarecrow Trail this year is Famous Women.
The scarecrows will be on display at a range of homes and businesses around the village from May 25 to June 10, taking in the Whit Friday weekend and half-term.
They will be mainly found in the village centre with some near the crossroads and others down Pingle Lane off Denshaw Road.
A circular trail will offer those taking part a pleasant walk and trail guides with clues (£2) will be available from Delph Post Office, Library, other outlets in Delph and Saddleworth Museum.
The annual Scarecrow Trail – now in its 11th year – is organised by Delph Community Association and all money raised goes towards community projects such as the maintenance and improvement of the Chapel Gardens.
Prizes for those who correctly identify the most scarecrows have been kindly donated by local businesses including: The Old Bell Inn, Millgate Arts Centre, and Millgate Hair Studio.
There will also be a prize for participants’ favourite scarecrows, which was won by The Old Bell last year for their eye-catching Mamma Mia scarecrow.
