Search is on for community heroes who go Above and Beyond

DO you know a worthy candidate for Saddleworth’s prestigious Above and Beyond Awards?

The search to celebrate and praise an individual or organisation who is worthy of joining the elite galaxy of award holders is underway.

The awards, backed by the Saddleworth and Lees District Partnership, celebrate villagers who go the extra mile for their neighbours or contribute to their community with selfless and kindness acts.

The judges include chair of the District Partnership Cllr Adrian Alexander, Cllrs Nikki Kirkham and Pam Byrne, chair and former chair of Saddleworth Parish Council respectively, and Lisa MacDonald and Christine Wilson, from the District team.

And after a successful inaugural year, the awards for 2018 have be widened to include individual entrants plus churches, groups, societies and voluntary organisations.

Entries will not be confined to one winner nominated from each village as in 2017 but the new scheme will see candidates drawn from across the whole community.

Do you know an individual or a group who deserves recognition for their unsung efforts quietly helping a neighbour or bringing joy to a group or a community?
