BUSINESSES AND organisations showcased their products to more than 600 visitors at the third Shop Local Festival at the Civic Hall in Uppermill.
Hosted by the Saddleworth Women’s Institute and Saddleworth Parish Council, the festival welcomed 42 stallholders including The Tea and Coffee Stall, mind body and spirit shop Moonstone from Greenfield, and The Little Saddleworth Pie company.
Around £1,000 was raised for the WI’s chosen charity Oldham Bereavement Support Service.
Another £335 went to the Parish Council’s Chairman’s charities – Oldham Hospital League of Friends, Oldham Diabetes Volunteers Group and Oldham Macmillan Cancer Care – as part of their funds raised throughout the year.
Meanwhile at the Saddleworth Creative Network, crafty delights included cakes and chocolates from Sugar Violets, soaps, bathbombs and candles from Bubbles and Flames, and Take Away Treat Company’s unique gifts.
There was also face painting, balloons, Easter activities, and a new ‘Wellness Room’ with health, beauty and alternative therapies.
The Network was set up by Maria Hourigan and Claire Hilton, who both run creative businesses from home, in 2011, and their quarterly events host over 200 traders.
