DENSHAW is back on the map two years after its welcome sign, heading into the village from junction 22 of the M62 motorway, fell by the wayside – literally!
All that was left of the original, distinctive green Oldham Council weather-battered, street furniture, opposite the Ram’s Head public house, were two rugby style metal uprights.
The Independent reported the damage and fallen sign in July 2016 and now can happily celebrate its much-delayed return.
Alan Roughley, chair of Denshaw Community Association, said: “Replacing the sign reminds people Denshaw covers a surprisingly wide area and is the most rural of the Saddleworth villages.”
A spokesperson for OMBC said: “This is a welcome sign not a road sign so the delay will have been down to priorities.”
