OLDHAM RESIDENTS are in with a chance of winning a share of £1,000 – simply by signing up to pay their council tax via direct debit.
Oldham Council is holding a prize draw with five cash prizes – £300, £250, £200, £150 and £100 – to encourage people to sign up.
Direct Debit is an easy way to pay council tax as payments are made automatically and payment dates will not be missed.
You also save time and money – no queues, cheques or stamps – and you remain in control and have a money back guarantee.
Anyone who signs up to use the direct debit scheme will have their details entered into the ‘hat’ for the prize draw.
Councillor Abdul Jabbar, Oldham Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Human Resources, said: “Direct Debit is the quickest, safest and easiest way to pay Council Tax.
“It allows you to make regular payments, which are all done automatically so you don’t have to worry about missing a payment. Not only is it convenient, it’s also really simple and safe.
“It only takes a few minutes to set up and it saves you lots of time over the year when you compare it to telephone or online payments.
“You also have a choice of payment dates and options – you can pay fortnightly or monthly over ten or 12 months, whichever is the most convenient for you.
“If you are lucky enough to win some money you can choose to spend it any way you want, on a treat, to help with home essentials or even on your Council Tax.”
To set up a Direct Debit simply log onto www.oldham.gov.uk/ctcomp or call 0161 770 6622. Just have your bank details and Council Tax account reference ready.
The closing date to sign up is Friday, April 29 and the draw will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
