YOUNGSTERS FROM Uppermill Football Club’s junior section gathered at the Civic Hall to celebrate their successful season.
More than 200 five to 16-year-olds attended, accompanied by families and friends, as players collected their trophies from Andrew Pheby, captain of Uppermill’s title-winning first team.
In a trophy-filled season for the club, the Under 9 boys were EMJFL Division 4 Spring League Champions and Cup Winners, coached by Markus Uhlig and Daniel Whitaker.
Under 11 Boys and their coaches Ricky Martin and Scott Wild were crowned Division 4 Cup Winners, while Under 12 Boys were Division 1 Spring Champions and Primary Cup Winners with coaches Chris Barlow and Adam Fitzgerald.
Under 14 Boys went unbeaten under coaches Leah and James Fenton to win Division 3 of the Huddersfield Junior League and Under 16 Boys were Division 4 Champions, also unbeaten, with coach Malc Cunningham.
Special trophies were also awarded, including Young Sportsperson of the Year which went to Ellen Bergin, who joined the club in 2005 and now plays for Manchester City.
Players of the Year were: Unders 10 boys (blues) Matthew Kershaw, Under 10 boys (whites) Ben Lamb, Under 11 boys Jackson Buckley, Under 12 boys A Adam Howarth, Under 12 boys B Oliver Griffiths, Under 14 boys George Reeves, Under 12 girls Robyn Gregory, Under 16s girls (blues) Gemma Clarke and Under 16s girls (whites) Emily Knight.
Max Lawton, Chair of the Junior Section, said: “We have had a very successful season and I would like to thank all the coaches who devote many unpaid hours to ensure the young people have a great time, a sense of achievement and loads of fun.
“Also many thanks to our sponsors for their generous contributions to a very successful club.”
