Mile
A SPORT Relief Mile will be held at Dovestone Reservoir on Sunday, March 23.
Organised by the Saddleworth Village Olympics committee and the Greenfield Greyhounds, the event offers 1mile, 3mile or 6mile courses for runners and walkers.
Their first event in 2012 attracted 350 participants to raise money for charities.

EXPLORE THE Saddleworth countryside by bike with the RSF Off Road Cycling Club guided rides.
The next ‘Saddleworth Circuit’ ride will take place on Tuesday, February 11, meeting at the Lime Kiln Cafe at the Brownhill’s Visitor Centre at 9.30m for a 10am start.
It will be a whole day’s moderate ride with some hills, with a stop for lunch in a café en route and finish around 3pm. Lights are recommended and anyone is welcome.

Shock
MID-TABLE Springhead inflicted a shock 5-1 defeat on second-placed Stockport Georgians in the premier division of the FBT Manchester League.
After a goalless opening period, Springhead produced a dazzling display after the restart with their goals scored by debut-making Lee Mallet, Ryan Fagan, Nathan Eastmond, Leighton Stephenson and Sam Hinchcliffe.
Cross-country
LOCAL ATHLETE Christopher Brown finished fifth in the under-17 race at the Greater Manchester Cross-Country Championships which were held at Leigh.
Christopher, who runs for Trafford AC, clocked a time of 18 min 32 sec.

SADDLEWORTH-BORN footballer Andrew Driver has been linked with a move to home-town Oldham Athletic.
The 26-year-old former Hearts player, who was raised in Dobcross and who played for 3D Dynamos, is a free agent having enjoyed a successful season playing in Major League Soccer from Houston Dynamos.
Family
MOSSLEY FOOTBALLERS Charlie Anderson and Wayne Welbeck have famous family connections.
Charlie’s dad Viv won the European Cup twice for Nottingham Forest. He also played for Manchester United, Arsenal and England while Wayne’s younger brother is Danny, the Manchester United and England forward.
