SPECTACULAR FLORAL designs filled St Chad’s Church in Uppermill to offer a glimpse of ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ for the Saddleworth Church Flower Festival.
The colourful arrangements were put together by the Flower Guild of Saddleworth Church, with tremendous help from the Saddleworth Flower Committee, other churches and groups.
And they guided visitors through the ages, starting with ‘The Building of St Chad’s Church’ 800 years ago.
Displays then encompassed key events such as the upsurge of Celtic Christianity, The War of the Roses, and the two World Wars.
Local events and figures, including the growth of Saddleworth, Ammon Wrigley, the Suffragettes, and the Morris Men, were also represented.
And a host of colourful arrangements adorned the pews to symbol ‘Our Church Today’ and were made by groups including Rainbows, Brownies and Beavers, Friends of Saddlewortth Church, Sunday School and St Chad’s All Stars.
