Stolen car used in store ram raid in Springhead

RAM raiders escaped with cash and cigarettes after smashing a stolen car into a Springhead convenience store.

Six offenders were involved in the attack at the Costcutter store on Carr House Road in the early hours of Tuesday, January 30.
A green Astra Estate car, taken from Stalybridge, was reversed into the security shutters three times before thieves gained entry to the shop.
After stealing goods and money of an unspecified value they drove off in a white Vauxhall van, leaving the Astra outside the shop.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers were on scene within minutes and a police dog was utilised. But offenders had made good their escape.
“Officers will conduct CCTV and house to house enquiries and the vehicle will be subject of a full forensic examination.

Meanwhile, Christopher Flemming, 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of theft, two counts of robbery and two counts of possession of a bladed article.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 15 2018.
The incidents relate to incidents at Lees Service Station on St John Street and at the Co-op.
Lees Service Station owner Frank Pullen said: “This is only the second time in 20 years something like this has happened but it was scary for those for those involved.
“We remain vigilant and are adding extra security measures.”
