TEN years of success and still going stronger than ever is the message from a top pharmacist celebrating ten years in Uppermill.
Ian Strachan opened Strachan’s Chemist on New Street a decade ago and, despite many independent pharmacies falling on hard times, his businesses is booming.
“We’ve done so well over the years and are still getting stronger. We’ve never been as busy as we are now,” said Ian, who has four pharmacies across the North West and was recently chair of the National Pharmacy Association.
“We have developed a really good relationship with patients and I believe we really show off independent pharmacy at its best.
“The staff are part of the community as they live and work here, and are a great team who offer a personalised, caring service.”
The shop is decorated with balloons and bunting to mark the special milestone, as well as highlight staff member Nicky Goodwin’s 10k sponsored run for the British Heart Foundation.
Ian, who is treating staff to a night out to celebrate the anniversary, added:
“These are difficult times for many independent pharmacies so we need people to keep supporting us as they have done over the years.
“It is a privilege to work and live in a village like this and we are really thankful for the support of our customers.
“Some even bring in old photos, chemist bottles and other things for us to display. It all adds to the friendly, community feeling of the shop.”
