A STYLISH new clothes shop is making a bold statement in Uppermill as it looks to spark a creative hub in the village.
Suki’s Wardrobe, run by Nicola Fisher and Bekka Simpson, opens its brightly coloured front door on New Street to customers for the first time on Saturday, September 22.
Inside, a warm welcome awaits along with an eye-catching fashion range for all ages imported from around the world, including Denmark, Greece and Parish.
The Independent got a sneak peak at a VIP soft launch evening when Bekka explained: “Nicola used to run Ella and Coco on the High Street and I ran a wedding boutique here.
“I decided I wanted to evolve and try something new and so did Nicola. I studied fashion and Nicola is an avid fan of fashion so it made sense to put the two together.
“The shop is named after one of my fashion inspirations. We’re a bit of a hidden gem just off the High Street – and there’s 30 minutes free parking outside!
“We’re trying to make this an artistic street and a little bit different to attract people here, rather than them just coming to shop on the High Street.
“We’ve got rainbow doors down this side, and the Weavers Factory art gallery is opening next door next year, so we’re flying the flag for creativity in Uppermill!”
But at the same time, the shop is keeping in touch with the past as it features quaint cottage windows, a stone flagged floor and a traditional fireplace.
“We wanted to have a cosy and warm feeling when customers come,” said Nicola. “And hopefully we’ve got something for everyone.
“We offer affordable luxury and there is something for all tastes and generations and all budgets too.
“So you can come in to do some shopping with your friends or your mum and all find something you like!”
The fashion lines will be changed regularly and there will also be a variety of seasonal brands brought in.
The shop also stocks a selection of gifts, bags, and home-wear including candles which proved a hit at Ella and Coco.
Suki’s Wardrobe is open on Monday to Saturday from 10am-5pm and on Sunday from 12noon-4pm. Also look out for their new website and social media pages.
