GREENFIELD’S THIRD team pulled off a dramatic victory against Edgeworth at Thornham in the final of the North Manchester Cricket League’s Stokes Cup.
The omens did not look good for Greenfield after they were bowled out in the final for 118 and Edgeworth raced to 90-2 in reply.
Greenfield took the last eight Edgeworth wickets for 23 runs as they triumphed by five runs, Ryan Arundale taking five wickets for five runs from four overs.
There was further silverware as the under-18s were crowned Saddleworth League champions after winning seven out of their eight league games.
Greenfield’s first team also reached the final of the Tanner Cup, but found Saddleworth too hot as they lost by 114 runs.
And the under-10 girls have also enjoyed success at various festivals.
The team was formed last year, but 2015 was the first one when they played games and they have assembled a 19-strong squad.
The girls were also asked to form a guard of honour for the Lancashire Ladies v Holland game at Glossop.
