A TEAM of charity fundraisers are toasting their success – at a gallop.

Because an event, backed by a pair of famous brewery dray horses, helped the Christie Allsorts raise £422 at the White Lion in Delph.

Carl Benton, the pub’s landlord, is a regular supporter of the team and invited them to the launch of the Beer, Brass and Barbi event.

Allsorts chair, Christine Harrop, said: “The icing on the cake was the arrival of Thwaites Brewery dray horses and their elegant trailer brilliantly looked after by coachmen Richard Green and Johnathan Jones.

“The team got the chance to ride on the back of the trailer – it was a wonderful day, well supported by local residents, friends and families.

“And we were delighted with the sum raised, which included a £150 donation from the White Lion.”

The money goes to Christie Allsorts current campaigns – the Young Oncology Unit and the Brachytherapy Suite (Intensive Isolation).christie allsorts uindraiser
The next event is a fun bonanza at The Hanging Gate, Diggle, on Saturday, June 14 including sheep shearing from Fairbanks Farm.
