THE SUN is set to shine down as fundraisers put pedal to the metal across Saddleworth at a unique Father’s Day bike ride in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

The Turnpike Challenge, staged by Saddleworth Rotary and Saddleworth Clarion Cycle Club, is returning for its third year on Sunday, June 18.

And they will be looking to raise more than the £750 from last year’s event.

This year’s ride will start and finish at the Diggle Band Club and is a leisurely 25-mile round trip over the Pennines, taking in the glorious countryside and hills.

Jo Castle, from Diggle Band Club, will treat riders at the end of the ride to her famous pies along with tea or coffee.

Jon Stocker, Rotarian and event organiser, declared: “Pump up your tyres and get yourself registered online!”
