REVELLERS FLOCKED to Delph as the legendary Party in the Park entertained with a bang for its tenth anniversary.
The sun shone down as picnic mats, deck chairs and even tents sprung up across Delph and Dobcross Cricket and Bowling Club for the popular event, organised by Wake Up Delph.
A host of entertainment kept guests on their feet, including tribute acts Rule The World and Only One Direction as well as Motown group The Fantastics and special guests local celebrity Mike Sweeney and the Thunderbirds.
There was also be a special appearance by Kieran McMahon who recently performed 24 gigs in 24 hours to raise £2,000 for Dr Kershaw’s.
Delph Band closed the show with a Last Night of the Proms finale with soprano Sally Mitchell followed by a fantastic fireworks finale.
Phil Beckwith, one of the organisers, commented: “It was a fantastic night and enjoyed by all – made extra special as it was our tenth anniversary.
“It is a big task for villagers to put on an event like this so thank you to all the volunteers, organisers and helpers who do a wonderful job.
“It all started to raise funds for Christmas celebrations in the village but we have carried it on and it has grown bigger and bigger and is going stronger than ever.”
Meanwhile, Eleanor and Karen Barnard-Croft, who won a family ticket to go to Party in the Park, sent in this picture of them enjoying the afternoon.
Eleanor said: “Thank you for the Party in the Park prize. We had a fantastic afternoon and evening!”
Meanwhile, Tina Shepard from Greenfield went to the event for the first time with her partner John Kahn and their children Catrina and Muktar.
Tina said: “I just want to say what a brilliant time we had. It is the first time I have been but we will definitely will be going again.
“Mike Sweeney and the Thunderbirds were excellent and the tribute acts were all great too. It’s worth paying the £50 to go as a family for a great day out.”
