SADDLEWORTH School’s U14s were hotshots as they finished runners-up in the Greater Manchester round of the National Schools’ Netball Championship.
The girls performed exceptionally in each game, showing resilience, teamwork and playing some great netball, captained by the outstanding Olivia Forster.
The attack displayed strength throughout the seven games, with more than 90 per cent shooting success from shooters Bella Cook and Georgia Taylor.
Finishing runners-up in their group of six teams meant they played Stockport Grammar in the semi-final, winners of the opposing group.
They won that tough game and faced Bluecoat in the final, narrowly losing out by two goals.
Both Oldham schools will now go through to represent Greater Manchester at the regional round in January that will be held in Merseyside.
Georgia Taylor and Amy Chadwick were the players of the tournament, but it was a great team performance according to teacher Rachael Muir with every player contributing to the victories.
The team was Olivia Forster, Maisie Reading, Isabella Cook, Georgia Taylor, Amy Chadwick, Grace Spurr, Lila Robinson, Lily Sculthorpe and Elley Pierre.
