TALENTED: Pianist Clare Hammond

Clare, who has been acclaimed as “a pianist of amazing power and panache” by The Telegraph, will play at the Saddleworth Concerts Society’s concert on Wednesday, April 1 at 7.30pm.

Over the past forty years Saddleworth has gained a reputation for presenting performances by world-class musicians, many early in the development of their careers.

Clare is no exception: The BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’ said: “Clare Hammond is recognised for the virtuosity and authority of her performances and is developing a reputation for brilliantly imaginative concert programmes”.

In 2014 she gave debut performances at seven festivals across Europe including the ‘Chopin and his music Festival’ in Warsaw, world premieres of works by ten composers and three broadcasts for BBC Radio.

On top of that she will appear as a younger Maggie Smith in Nick Hytner’s film adaptation of Alan Bennet’s play The Lady in the Van.

Clare’s wide-ranging programme for the concert in Saddleworth spans the 18th – 21st centuries including music by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Ravel.

She will also be playing works by Sergei Lyapunov, Nikolai Kapustin and Thomas Simaku and will give an introduction to the less known parts of her concert.

This programme promises to be most entertaining and memorable and is likely to be very popular so to avoid disappointment book early.

The concert will be held on Wednesday, April 1 at 7.30pm in the Millgate Arts Centre, Delph.

Tickets cost £14 and are available from Geoff Roberts by calling 01457 875917 or at the door.
