THREE TALENTED boys ran away with medals from an Oldham schools’ cross-country race at Stoneleigh Park.
Harry Thornley, Edward Rankin and George Cocking were the only pupils from Holy Trinity Primary, Dobcross, to take part and each brought home silverware.
The event was the final cross-country race of the academic year, run by Steve Tyrell and the team at Oldham Schools’ Sport.
George, 8, from Dobcross, won bronze in the year 3/4 race in what was only his second ever cross country race.
Edward, 10, from Delph, won gold in the year 5/6 race and he runs regularly for East Cheshire Harriers.
And there was silver in the year 5/6 race for 10-year-old Harry, from Dobcross, who was crowned Oldham Schools Cross Country League champion last year after winning every race of the 2015/16 academic year.
Harry and Edward also received a special award for qualifying to run for Oldham in the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships in February – they were two of the youngest runners to be selected.
