Tasting the difference

A NEW menu, an award-winning guest chef and another with 14 years’ experience aim to be the recipe for success for one of Saddleworth’s most popular pubs.

The Three Crowns Inn and Restaurant , in Scouthead, launches new dishes in March and has welcomed decorated chef Anthony Byrom to their team of five, led by Andrew McDonald, to help with the project.

Anthony, originally from Hull, was the only local chef in Greater Manchester to be awarded 3 AA Rosettes during 2010, 11 and 12 and will bring his own signature dishes to the menu.

He will be working alongside head chef Andrew, who started his 15th year at the Three Crowns  in February, to continue and develop their use of locally sourced fresh produce.

New dishes will be on the ‘Specials’ board throughout February before being added to the full menu and landlord Ray Hicks invited customers to taste their range of new delights.

“It’s an exciting time for us, and we would like to welcome customers old and new to join us in this venture,” he said.

“Anthony can’t be anything but a massive addition, and he gives us a fresh pair of eyes to look at and develop things with.

“People know him from his local work around here, including at the White Hart and the Old Bore in Rishworth.

“And Andrew has been ever-present for almost 15 years – that speaks volumes in itself and his skill and experience are invaluable.”
