Top Lydgate inn unveils new cocktail bar and restaurant

A STYLISH cocktail bar and restaurant have been unveiled at a popular Lydgate hotel as they adopt a brand new look.

The White Hart already has a reputation as one of Greater Manchester’s best gastropubs and boasts two AA rosettes – the highest in the area – to its name.

They are also listed in the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide 2016 – Top 50 Dining Pubs and The AA Restaurant Guide 2016 – Pick of the Pubs.

And now owner Charles Brierley is raising the bar even higher after a revamp to open the doors of high-end The Dining Room.

Charles explained: “We’ve gone for a very different look and invested much more than we’d ordinarily would in a restaurant makeover.

“It’s nothing like it used to be and the atmosphere has changed completely. It’s got a real buzz about it and we’re delighted with the feedback so far, it’s been fantastic.”

The new look is befitting of head chef Mike Shaw, who gained a Michelin star at Windermere hotel Gilpin Lodge after previous stints in starred kitchens.

At The Dining Room, he offers a seven-course tasting experience, tailoredaround each diner’s likes and dietary requirements, as well as an a la carte menu.

Mouth-watering main dishes including a selection of the sea, roast partridge and gressingham duck while there are desserts such as apple cheesecake and hot blackberry soufflé.

“With the style and the vibe we’ve gone for design-wise, we’ve then got to provide that on a plate and do things a bit unusual,” said Mike.

“The squab pigeon for example, is served with the claw still on. People expect a few quirks – and the ingredients speak for themselves.”

There is also a hefty wine list to choose from, with tasting flights available to pair with the tasting menu.

The Inn also boasts a rustic Brasserie with open fires, offering a traditional menu seven days as week, as well as Sunday lunch.

The new Dining Room is the latest in a string of changes at the hotel, which is currently converting nearby cottages into four new suites to offer extra family accommodation

And work is soon to start on a new eye-catching oak-frame Pavilion, which will be an extension of the popular Oak Room to host functions and events.
