Hanna Borbála Makkai and Zsolt Levente Andacs, both 18 and who attend a school in Cluj which the Rotary has been involved with for many years, are being hosted by Rotarians.

They plunged into a busy timetable of activities, including visiting York Minster, travelling by steam train to the ‘Harry Potter’ station in North Yorkshire, and even trying to learn to play cricket.

The highlight was a flight in a four-seater aircraft, where Hanna and Zsolt were able to take their turn in the front seat at the controls.

After five days they joined youngsters from nine other countries at a youth camp at Pettypool Outdoor Centre, near Northwich, where activities included climbing, archery, mountain-biking, and team-building, as well as a trip to the Isle of Man.

Ten days later they returned to their hosts’ homes ready to fly back home to Transylvania, having made many lifelong friends.

If you are interested in joining the Rotary, or becoming a Friend of Rotary, join them at the White Hart, Lydgate, on Wednesday evenings (6:30pm. most weeks, 7:30pm last week of month).
