Distinguished visiting musicians will include mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge, who will open the Festival with a programme of Songs from Stage and Screen.
Also performing will be the Scott Brothers Keyboard Duo, the Northern Brass Quintet, the Vista Wind Trio, and the Benyounes and Zelkova string quartets who will join together for Mendelssohn’s stunning Octet on the final night.
Another highlight will be the Scott Brothers’ unique performance of Saint-Saen’s ‘Carnival of the Animals’ played to a live screening of Tom Scott’s new animated film – perfect for all the family!
The Festival will also provide a platform for local younger players in the finals of its Young Musicians’ Competition and a Brass Masterclass given by the Hallé’s Tom Redmond.
Tickets are available from Uppermill Post Office, and the three concert venues (Uppermill Methodist Church, Church of the Sacred Heart, and Christ Church, Friezland) on Sunday mornings. Full details are available online: www.usmf.uk
