TV stars hunted down across Delph for popular annual Scarecrow Trail

STARS FROM popular TV programmes were hunted down across Delph last month for the village’s annual Scarecrow Trail.

Trailblazers scoured the area for the figures, which included SpongeBob SquarePants as well as characters from Eastenders, Downton Abbey and Coronation Streethidden in homes and businesses including the bakery, library, craft shop and Shear Perfection hairdressers.

Elegant Downton Abbey scarecrows won Jill Davis of Delph Methodist Church a Certificate of Artistic Merit, presented by Phillida Shipp, vice-chair of the Delph Community Association.

And the people’s favourite scarecrow was Bette Lynch from Coronation Street, at the Old Bell Inn, with owner Phil Whiteman and Sue Doherty receiving the award for a third year.

The annual Delph Scarecrow Trail is organised by the Delph Community Association and all money raised goes to the running of Delph Library and other community projects.
