THE ULTIMATE racing experience is being taken one step further by a Lees company which has bought the country’s only full size Formula 1 simulator.
The unique mock race-car arrived at Stonerig Raceway around a month ago and offers drivers aged 7 upwards the chance to experience the thrills of real F1 circuits from around the world.
The simulator tests your skills and strength as you race around the circuit, battling force-feedback and feeling all the twists, turns and bumps in the road.
Gareth Stone, who set up Stonerig Raceway just over three years ago to offer the best in Scalextric racing, said: “It’s really exciting to be able to offer a real F1 experience.
“This is the only car like it. It’s made by a company at Silverstone and I believe it’s the same system used to train F1 drivers.
“We do a lot of events and exhibitions and saw a group who had something similar and thought that it would work really well for us. It was a natural progress from the Scalextric.
“It’s been really popular so far – people do an hour or so on the Scalextric and then use the simulator. We’re already taking it out to events as well.”
Experiences on the F1 simulator start at just £5 for a quick race, £14.99 for a Race Experience including practice or the Full Throttle Experience for £28.
Or for those who enjoy life at a slightly slower pace, Stonerig also offers nine impressive Scalextric tracks to test your skills and nerve as you have a good time.
The themed tracks include desert, city, snow and rocky – with two available for hire – and fill out the unit on Hartshead Street, which is decked out with racing memorabilia and pictures.
And the tracks are all lovingly designed and built by Gareth, Alan Williams and his team of staff and family, heping to earn them a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2014.
Gareth added: “People come from all over the place, even from different countries, to use our tracks as there’s nowhere else like us.”
Stonerig Raceway offers the ultimate racing experience for family visits, weddings, kids and adults parties, corporate events, stag dos and more.
