THE CIVIC Hall in Uppermill is throwing its doors open to the community bigger and better than ever before after an extensive refurbishment.
Work at the Civic Hall, on Lee Street includes new ladies’ and gent’s toilets, a change layout to the entrance, and new meeting rooms, with work carried out by Randerson Joinery and Construction.
Chairman Pam Byrne said: “I am really pleased with the work and the standard to which it has been completed.
“Those who are using the facilities, especially the New Suite, are delighted.”
The new-look Hall, which is home to Saddleworth Parish Council, was unveiled at a special Open Day in December to show off the facilities and encourage locals to use them.
The Hall is already widely used by a host of local groups from Luncheon Club, Gardening Club and Tea Dance to Pilates, Weight Watchers, and Yoga – and more are always welcome.
Downstairs, the Council Chamber can be attractively transformed for a wedding ceremony, with the capacity to seat 90 guests for such events.
This room is also ideal for larger meetings or small conferences of up to 30 people and is fitted with a hearing loop. A conference microphone system available to hire.
Next door, the two lower halls with adjacent kitchen are perfect for smaller functions and classes, ranging from buffets, lectures, lunches, flea markets, craft fairs and much more.
Upstairs, the Ballroom is the largest of the rooms in the Civic Hall and together with the bar and the upstairs kitchen provides an ideal venue for weddings, conferences, exhibitions, dinners, dances, and many varied classes and activities.
The ballroom can comfortably seat up to 440 people for a concert or 120 for a sit-down meal, and has access via a lift and toilets nearby.
The extension saw the addition of new three rooms on the second floor, with one large room, two smaller rooms and a small kitchen area available for hire.
Finally, the Chairman’s Room offers a quiet working space for Cllr Byrne, but also doubles as a small meeting room for up to 10 people or for conducting interviews.
