UPPERMILL Football Club’s preparations for the new season were hit by vandals.
Days before the big kick off, the dugouts at Churchill Playing Fields were badly damaged by vandals.
And repair work had to take place in time for the first team’s opening Manchester League, first division fixture against Heywood St James on Saturday, August 11.
Club spokesperson Michelle Simpson said: “It doesn’t give a good image of Saddleworth seeing the field looking as it does.
“It’s very costly, an eyesore and we are trying to get everyone to take notice what’s happening in the area.
“We had our building on Tanners Field vandalised earlier this year which we ended up having to demolish for safety reasons, again very costly.”
